Conference BrandingThe Oklahoma Archaeology Conference (OAC) brings together a wide array of individuals within the archaeological industry, thus needing unique and personal branding.
The Oklahoma Public Archaeology Network (OKPAN) came to the OU Visual Communication senior class looking for a unique, interesting, and cohesive set of branded elements for their upcoming archaeology conference.
The Challenge: Traditional archaeology conference branding reinforces outdated perceptions and fails to communicate the field's contemporary relevance. OAC needs a transformative identity that positions archaeology as a forward-thinking, inclusive discipline critical to understanding where humanity is headed.
The Solution: A thoughtfully curated system of designs and visual elements that reflects mended relationships, an atmosphere built on harmony, and honors the heritage of archaeology as well as the shared labor toward long-term learning.

UNITY
“Heritage is fundamentally human” - Dr. Bonnie PitbladoWith a fundamental such as this, it deserves to be recognized, honored, and shared. In such a critical and individually developed field, the opportunities to share knowledge are few, but nonetheless valuable. Continued learning and growth in such a field is greatly encouraged through the sharing of labor, studies, and knowledge at an event such as this.A field that is historically divided is now emerging into one that is a united front. To mend internal fragmentations from the past, archeologists are working hard to create spaces for voices to be heard and valued equally.Moodboard

Final ConceptThe Networking theory is used all throughout archaeological studies to identify patterns, correlations, and records of history for any niche of humanity. Constructed by nodes and linear connections, we used this theory as the foundational visual element for our branding. It represents the industry itself and the unity this conference creates across all studies, people, and cultures.
